Fishing & Camping

We headed out for a few days of fantastic camping and fishing at one of the many lakes here in the Cariboo. They say you can fish at a different lake every single day of the year here in the Cariboo. I’m not an ice fishing fan, but there are a lot of them up here. I’d rather be nice and warm inside my house sitting by the woodstove.

We spent 3 nights at a Forest Srvice Campground not too far from our house. We took da Wolf with us – loaded up the camper, boat and all the tackle and headed out. Here’s a few pictures

We ended up with 8 fish – here’s the Gman with a nice catch. This trout weighed just over 2 pounds.

We cooked the trout over the open fire, along with a few baked potatoes. Yummy!

Since it was our Anniversary, we toasted each other with some of our Homemade Dandelion Wine from 2009.

A seagull about 500 kilometers from the ocean. There were actually 2 Seagulls together, so maybe they are a mated pair.

On our way home, we passed by this beautiful meadow, when something out there caught our eye.

A buck, a little spike buck browsing in the grasses. He has nothing to fear for another few months, then hunting season begins.

When we got home, the Gman brined the trout and yesterday he smoked it in his Homemade smoker. Delicious! If you want to read about how to brine and smoke fish, just click over here.

Enjoy your Sunday! We are off to friends for lunch, I’m going to harvest some veggies for them before we go.
